The chips he ordered got stuck on the way out, and he tried to shake the machine. It didn't work.
So he walked out of the hotel to his truck, grabbed a pickaxe, came back, and smashed the glass of the vending machine.
He grabbed his chips and tried to walk out, but the hotel clerk present stopped him.
